The Salle des Fêtes d’Akwa hosted the security meeting in the Douala 1st district chaired by SYLYAC MARIE MVOGO. This security meeting aims to take stock of the situation and find possible solutions.
After Douala 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th, the Prefect of the Wouri Department SYLYAC MARIE MVOGO, concerned about the populations of his constituency, organized a security meeting on October 3, 2024 in the district of Douala 1st.
The Prefect of Wouri in his speech emphasizes: "We have come to request the collaboration of our populations, traditional leaders, local elected officials and all the vital forces of our constituency. We are aware that if we have the right information at the right time, our responses will be better targeted and we will anticipate on the ground"
He also calls on parents to better supervise their children and educate them. For the prefect, parents must take back control of the education of their offspring. Because to combat insecurity, if at the level of neighborhoods, homes, families, cantons, zones and many others, nothing is done, it will be difficult to combat insecurity. It is therefore necessary that information and intelligence pass between the populations and FMO.
During the discussions, several concerns and solutions were brought by the senior chief of the Akwa Canton SM Dr LOUIS DIN DIKA AKWA, SM EDUBE DIKOTO DAVID chief of the Bonamouang village, JEAN JACQUES LENGUE MALAPA mayor of the district commune of Douala 1st, without forgetting the populations of Douala 1st either victim or witness of the attacks in their different localities.
To this end, for the accomplishment of the missions of the Prefect in order to make the city of Douala more secure, the honorable SOPPO TOUTE, gave SYLYAC MARIE MVOGO 320 chasubles and 300 whistles. This first donation of its kind will be used to strengthen the teams of the vigilance committees of Douala 1st.
SYLYAC MARIE MVOGO did not fail to express his satisfaction on the understanding of the populations: "I am happy to note that our populations have understood the message and we are sending them in turn, as sensitizers. We must go further by telling our populations what are the government projects that supervise, empower the youth; that traditional leaders appropriate today's message and that they in turn go to organize awareness meetings like this one so that these young people who engage in debauchery, in the consumption of drugs and other substances harmful to human health, these children who are picked up by dealers to market drugs rather seize the opportunity of all government programs and projects, so that in turn, they are rich producers, agents of development", he hopes that Douala 1st will be the showcase of the economy and that investors continue to come to Douala, the economic lung. May the right information come in time for sincere solutions to be taken.
The meeting was attended by the Sub-Prefects of Douala 1st, the Mayors of Douala 1st and 6th, representatives of the ministries, village chiefs, the Senior Chiefs of the Akwa, Deido and Bell Cantons, FMO officials, the Chiefs of the districts and blocks of Douala 1st, the Mayor of the city of Douala, the parliamentarians of Douala 1st, and the vital forces and populations of Douala 1st.
